What Makes Ringo Starr a Great Drummer?

This is a bit off the wine and food beat but it’s about taste so perhaps it’s not too much of a stretch at all.

Back in the day I was a professional drummer and had great admiration for Ringo Starr. Most of his drum parts were understated but elegantly composed and distinctive—like a great wine come to think of it—and included elements that conventional drummers would not think of.

This video by a young German woman clearly demonstrates his genius. The presentation is crisp, professional and flawlessly executed. It’s worth watching even if you’re not a musician, especially if you’re a Beatles fan.

And the last few minutes includes some very talented, very charming teenage girls in a tribute to the Beatles.
