Known for his judicious use of new oak, winemaker Victor takes a different approach with this bottling ageing this wine in mature oak barrels 5-15 years old—with gorgeous results.
An endearing nose with clear, focused aromas of ripe berry coated in chocolate mint with a light dusting of pencil shavings.
The wine fills the mouth with succulent, dark fruit, but then holds back, turning lush but shapely and elegant, easing into a long, slow fade on the finish punctuated by pepper notes with tannins providing gentle support. Several years in the bottle before release has been very kind to this wine with all elements gracefully integrated giving the wine a tender aspect despite its prodigious ripe fruit. It features a medium plus body but ample acidity gives it buoyancy.
