Black cherry, straightforward grapey notes, and licorice with raisin undercurrents, this is a ripe, fruity nose, with some gentle, dusty earth notes and slight oak aromas in the background.
Unfortunately, the promising nose is misleading. The palate has some intensity but with a slight chemical flavor. It doesn’t feel rich at all but just grates on the palate with significant acidity that isn’t integrated. The hard texture with clunky tannins, and a finish on the edge of sour makes it hard to recommend this.
This is not pour down the drain awful but that is faint praise. Beringer makes some decent wine but this is not one of them even for the price.
Score: 81
Price: $11 ave. but I found it for $6
Alc: 13.8%
So what hard rock band kinda sounds OK at first but then gets really annoying? Why of course:
