Despite its reputation as the finest wine region in the world and the home of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche, which will set you back thousands for a bottle if you can find one, Burgundy is awash in generic table wines—simple, light-bodied Pinot Noir with pretty aromas and crisp acidity that enliven the hearty, earthy foods of the region.
This cheapy from Trader Joe’s conjured memories of pork feet, braised jowls, and pork intestine sausage (andouillette)—a bog standard example of the house wines you will find in any restaurant in the region.
A pleasing nose of raspberry, baking spice, and just a hint of barnyard, very thin and tart on the palate, but if you love Burgundy you will find this charming especially at this price.
