- Mother Jones has a fascinating eposé of how the sugar industry convinced 20th Americans that sugar was a health food. It is both hilarious and sick.
- Oh Mon Dieu. A French food writer argues that British produce is now supieror to French produce. This could be the start of WWIII.
- Here are many crowd-sourced versions of the 10 commandments of cooking. Lots of good advice here. My favorite: Never fry bacon when naked.
- Is Anthony Bourdain too macho? This writer thinks so. “Anthony Bourdain has turned a sort of belligerent gluttony into a talisman for insecure men.” I think I agree. I enjoyed Kitchen Confidential. The rest not so much.
- I’m starting to hear reports of a global wine shortage due to the recession and in some cases bad weather. Bad news for wine prices.
